The Wheatsheaf Inn in the quiet Cotswold village of Northleach has recently upgraded its accommodation and outside spaces-

The Wheatsheaf is a coaching inn, where in years come by weary travellers would rest and recuperate by having a good meal and a few drops of beer or ‘wine’. Today our focus remains the same.

We aim to please our local community by being warm and friendly and providing professional service and interesting food that changes regularly in a family friendly environment.

For people visiting from further afield our goal is to be an exceptional example of a traditional coaching inn; with real locals, great beer, excellent regional food and clean and comfortable rooms.

A great place for a drink, a lunch or a stay in one of their 14 en-suite rooms.

We have 14 rooms which all boast wonderful individual features. The rooms are designed for comfort based around what original features are there. We believe that the key ingredients for a good night sleep are big comfortable beds, powerful showers and rich luxurious bed linen

Being just off the Fosse Way the inn is generally quiet as is the small but delightful village which is worth exploring. The Wheatsheaf also hosts many events – wine tastings, wine and food evenings, clay-pigeon shooting etc
With five unique and luxurious en-suite guest rooms, great food, a delightful restaurant, a varied wine list and a sophisticated bar this inn offers stylish dining and bar food alongside exciting drinks.

The bedrooms are themed and include Paris-en-Provence

In the oldest part of the building, dating back to 1580, a fabulous mix of Parisian luxury and Provençale farmhouse honesty. The large en-suite bathroom is finished in marble with fittings from Fired Earth. Make sure you try the roll top bath – built for two. Each of our rooms has been recently refurbished to an individual theme by interior designer Jean Harrod. They feature high quality fittings and furnishings, and individual marble bathrooms with power showers. Paris-en-Provence looks out into the village.

and Roman Road

The path of an ancient Roman road runs within a few miles of the village, so we thought it appropriate to create a room with a Roman theme. Feature of the room is a hand carved sleigh bed. Each of our rooms has been recently refurbished to an individual theme by interior designer Jean Harrod. Alternatively step over the flagstone hearth into the bar with its roaring log fire and wooden settles, which is as popular with the locals as it has always been, where you can enjoy a drink and a light meal. The dining room offers English cooking with a “modern twist” and has recently been featured in ‘Country Life’ magazine and also appears in ‘Which Good Food Guide 2007′.

Halford Bridge Hotel

There has been a coaching inn on the Fosse Way where it crosses the River Stour since the 16th Century, but in recent years the place was getting a touch neglected.

However in December 2006 it re-opened under new owners after extensive refurbishment. It is now a stylish, modern informal venue for “dining, drinking and dozing”. Whether it be for a coffee en-route or an overnight stay in one of the 12 individually-styled rooms. The place has a “nut” theme for the rooms and bar and restaurant – which is fun. The decor is modern, yet sympathetic to what is an old building with sloping floors, narrow staircases and some low beams upstairs.

Lunch in the bar was excellent – a shortish menu, but with a good selection of both modern and traditional fare.

“Experience the relaxed, friendly atmosphere and original coaching inn charm that this village pub has to offer. Steeped in history and located on the fringes of The Cotswolds. Halford offers the best of both worlds, set in a charming, sleepy village location, yet within easy reach of a variety of places that the heart of England has to offer – Shakespeares Stratford, historic Warwick, Cotswold countryside and many more. Our team of staff, friends, family and regulars will be only to happy to recommend great, tried and tested places of interest for you to visit, and will point you in the right direction to get there!”
